Language can be "impoverished" since language doesn't always satisfy a deep real meaning of a subject. Although joiks may not have a literal meaning, they are able to express what we truly feel. I believe art and music allow us to portray our emotions. Pictures are also able to communicate thoughts, ideas, and emotions. We can assume what is happening and perceive the mood of the situation through music and pictures. Therefore, we wouldn't necessarily need language to understand the words being said to understand the intention.
